Marathon

I never thought I would ever grace the Burlington Marathon with my ugly presence. But my sister Beth and her husband Andy decided it was going to be their first so we came out to see them race and race they did. They both finished right next to each other and I cannot describe how happy I am for them…partly because I have no idea what it’s like to run a marathon—never mind finish, and partly because marathons are heavy duty, with most people steering clear of them entirely.

Here they are coming down the home stretch. They were actually running! And they looked and dressed like runners do, shiny fabrics and speedy glasses and velcro-attached what-have-yous all around.

So psyched for them. My Sister seems capable of anything she puts her mind to.

Andy runs with a beard. His shiny fabric shirt matched his shoes, which is a plus in my book.

The marathon Fishers, complete with medals and chocolate milk. Our heroes.

Well, yeah, and a photo of this guy who stayed with us the night before the race. Sonny is into lacrosse now and pestered his way into the rather random and unusual collection of lax gear I held onto from my days working with STX, including the world’s largest lacrosse glove.

Best to my Sister and Brother-in-law!
