Essex Junction Fairgrounds

Located at the site of the current Champlain Valley Exposition, the Essex Junction Fairgrounds 1/2 mile operated intermittently between 1932 and 1941, and then after WW II up until 1977. Though the oval itself is no longer used in its entirety, the front straight sees action every September in the form of demolition derby and figure 8 races, while the infield and part of the east banking has been used for SCCA rallycross events. There’s also a monster truck event there every summer. The catch fence at the east end of the track was recently removed. There is an antique store in Essex Junction that has a small historical society display featuring some memorabilia from the track.
